PSC PROMOTES TWO (2) CPs, OTHERS AND DISMISSES FOUR (4)

The Police Service Commission at its 5th plenary meeting held on the 4th and 9th of June, 2014 in Abuja considered and approved Thirty Two (32) disciplinary cases involving Senior Police Officers (SPOs).
Two Superintendents of Police, namely: Nyong Enefiok, Offu Ukereke, Deputy Superintendent Eteng Bassey and Assistant Superintendent Mohammed Usman Kashim were dismissed at the end of the plenary decisions while an ASP was compulsorily retired for offences against police discipline. Also, Six (6) officers were reduced in rank, Ten (10) severely reprimanded, while others were reprimanded or issued Letters of Advice.
Furthermore, the Commission equally approved
the promotion of some deserving senior police officers, who had satisfied all the criteria enunciated for the elevation of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.
Two (2) Commissioners of Police, namely:
i. Chris Olakpe
ii. Grace Chita Okudo
were elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police. Both promotions are with effect from 04/06/2014 and 09/06/2014 respectively.
Similarly, Seven (7) Deputy Commissioners of Police were promoted to the substantive rank of Commissioners of Police; they are:
i. Victor N. Ojo
ii. Elias Okafor Wayemeru
iii. Paul E. Okafor
iv. Henry Adebayo Fadairo
v. Stella P. Udosen
vi. Felicia O. Noelle
vii. Ovie Votenisky Oyokomino
The Commission also elevated Twelve (12) Assistant Commissioners of Police to Deputy Commissioners of Police, while Twenty One (21) Chief Superintendents of Police were promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Police. Equally, Twenty Seven (27) Superintendents were promoted to Chief Superintendents of Police. In continuation of the elevation of deserving officers, Fifteen (15) Deputy Superintendents were promoted to Superintendents, One Hundred and Twenty Nine (129) Assistant Superintendents of Police were elevated to the rank of Deputy Superintendents while Twenty Inspectors (20) who were omitted during the last Inspectors promotion were promoted to Assistant Superintendents of Police.
The promotions of Assistant Superintendents of Police to Chief Superintendents of Police are with effect from the 19th February, 2014, while the others are with effect from 9th June, 2014.
The Commission equally deliberated on some disciplinary and legal appeal matters and took far-reaching decisions towards the effective administration of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Chairman of the Commission, Sir Mike Mbama Okiro, while congratulating the newly promoted officers, enjoined them to redouble their efforts in the discharge of their assignments. He underlined the readiness of the Commission under his watch to discharge its mandate effectively. He noted that deserving and hardworking officers would be elevated as and when due, while offences against Police Rules and Regulations would be sanctioned adequately if a transformed Nigeria Police Force of the 21st Century that is democratically inclined is to be realized.
